    Signed Snooker Memorabilia

Snooker's great television era produced characters people still talk about in every club and pub in the country. Our snooker pieces are built around those names: Alex Higgins, Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry and the world champions of the 1970s and 1980s.

    The pieces we hold

The collection centres on signed montages. One pairs Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins with Jimmy 'The Whirlwind' White, the two players who, more than any others, turned snooker into box-office television. Another brings Higgins together with six other world champions from 1969 to 1989, the years when the game moved from smoky halls to prime-time BBC. A third celebrates Stephen Hendry, seven times World Champion.

Each listing names its signatories and shows the real piece. Sold items are marked and cannot be bought, so the grid above is a true picture of what is available now.

Why the 1970s and 1980s matter to collectors

Colour television made snooker. Once viewers could tell the reds from the browns, the World Championship at the Crucible became one of the most watched events in British sport, and the players became household names. Material from that era connects directly to the memories of the people who watched it, which is why it is the heart of snooker collecting.

Alex Higgins died in 2010, so pieces carrying his signature form a closed supply. Multi-champion montages that include him cannot be created again, and a piece that gathers several champions of the same era keeps a whole chapter of the sport in one frame.

What to check with signed snooker items

Snooker autographs are mostly found on photographs, programmes and cards rather than on equipment, which makes them easier to assess than a signed cue or ball. As with any montage, ask which element carries the real signatures and make sure each one is named. Higgins is the most forged name in the sport, so be cautious of cheap, unframed Higgins photographs with no history.

Our guide to signed montages explains how signed and printed elements differ, and our fading guide covers why UV-filtering glass matters for signed paper and card.
