    Displaying Signed Memorabilia at Home

A well-planned wall turns a set of individual purchases into a collection. The best displays are as much about restraint and lighting as about the pieces themselves.

    Choosing the wall

Pick an internal wall away from direct sun, radiators and external doors. Hallways and stairwells are popular but often the brightest and most humid parts of a house — check the light through the day before committing.

    Heights and grouping

Hang so the centre of the piece sits at roughly eye level, around 145–150cm from the floor. Group by theme rather than size: a 1966 wall, a Hollywood wall, a music wall. Keep gaps consistent — 5–8cm between frames reads as intentional.

    Fixings and weight

A large glazed shirt frame can weigh well over 10kg. Use fixings rated for the load and appropriate to the wall type, and use two hanging points to keep the frame level and reduce cord stress.

    Lighting

Use low-UV LED picture lights positioned so the beam does not sit on the signature, and keep the fitting far enough away that the frame surface stays cool to the touch.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I display memorabilia in a conservatory?

We would strongly advise against it — light and temperature extremes there are the worst possible combination for ink and paper.

How do I keep a group looking balanced as it grows?

Set a fixed grid spacing at the start and stick to it. Adding to a grid always looks better than adding around a random arrangement.
